XVI Liceum was established 40 years ago. The main aim of the school is to prepare students for further education. In our school students learn different languages: English, German, Spanish, Italian.
Although Krakow is not included into the regions of unfavorable social-economical location, it should be stressed that most of the students of XVI Liceum come from families of workers of the ArcelorMitall Poland and inhabitants of small towns and villages outside the city limits. The continuous restructuring of the company and living under the permanent threat of dismissal creates specific consequences for both parents and children. The students and the teachers are forced to co-operate in various fields: teaching, education and social. Participation in the project aims at making students aware that they are a part of the society which belongs to the European Union. Moreover, getting to know other teenagers from the EU will allow students to realize similarities and differences between different countries. Consequently, they will see that it is possible to create one European culture without forgetting about national identity. The opportunity to practice the language, improving computer skills are also very important in educating young European citizens.
